In this article:

Site Manager 4 can be accessed from anywhere in the world by authorized users using a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

You will need to set up:

  • JumpCloud + 2FA (two-factor authentication)
  • VPN (Virtual Private Network) + 2FA (two-factor authentication)

By the end of this article you will have achieved the following:

  • On your phone in the Google Authenticator app (or another authenticator app)
    • JumpCloud 2FA (two-factor authentication)
    • OpenVPN Connect 2FA (two-factor authentication)
  • On your desktop or laptop
    • Successfully logged into JumpCloud to complete the signup process
    • Connected to the Concise Group VPN page and signed in
    • Downloaded and installed the app OpenVPN Connect

Note that if you are using an Encore-supplied desktop or laptop and have permission issues installing OpenVPN Connect then take the following action:

  • Contact the Support Center team and ask if you have been "added to the appropriate Endpoint Manager group".

  •

Authenticator

We recommend installing Google Authenticator but other authenticator apps will also work. You can get Google Authenticator from the Apple App store or Google Play store. The icon is shown below.

Set Up JumpCloud

JumpCloud securely manages and connects employee identities to IT resources such as devices, applications, and networks.

JumpCloud is not used by Encore in general but it is used by the Chime server admins for access control to Chime systems in the cloud.

An administrator will arrange for you to receive a JumpCloud invitation by email. The email will come from JumpCloud and not from Encore.

  • Click Link
  • Choose Password
  • Choose Authenticator 2FA Option
  • Scan QR code
  • Enter Code

1. Click the link in your email invitation from JumpCloud

Set Up VPN (Open VPN Connect)

You will need the OpenVPN Connect software and a profile file. Follow the steps below to download, install and configure these.

1. Connect to the OpenVPN user portal in the appropriate region to download the VPN client software and/or configuration file:

If you have not been added to a region by an administrator, you will not be able to access it.

  •

North Virginia (for Encore US, Concise-US & Encore Mexico)

Frankfurt (for Concise-UK & Encore EMEA)

Montreal (for Encore Canada)

Sydney (for Encore Anzpac)

2. Login with your JumpCloud username ([firstname.lastname] only - NOT your full email address) and password - if you make three failed attempts, contact Concise IT Support to ensure you're enabled for OpenVPN...five failed attempts will lock you out for 6 minutes.

3. Scan the QR code into your authenticator app, then enter the 6-digit code.

If you already have OpenVPN Client installed, skip to step 5.

4. If you don't have OpenVPN, download and install the appropriate software for your OS (for Windows, if asked to choose a driver, go with "TAP" which should be selected by default)
Once installed, securely delete the installer software.

5. Download the connection profile by clicking the blue text "Yourself (user-locked profile)" near the bottom (see image above ).

Import the profile - you can either double-click it or use the "+" button in the OpenVPN client (see image below ).

  • In OpenVPN, you can set it to remember your password, and you can give it a more friendly Profile Name.
  • If you have just installed the OpenVPN client in step 4, you can delete the bundled profile
  • Securely delete the "client.ovpn" file.

NOTE: You get five attempts to log in before being locked out for 6 minutes.

Encore may have to raise a ticket if your machine is not allowed to install this.

Connecting to OpenVPN

  1. Open the OpenVPN Connect app

  2. Click the toggle switch next to the profile/region you want to connect to (if the app was already running, you can alternatively skip step 1 and select the appropriate profile from the System Tray / Menubar icon)

  3. Enter your JumpCloud password (unless you have saved that as part of the profile)

  4. Enter your 6-digit 2FA code (from your authenticator app)

  5. Once connected you will be able to access the relevant resources appropriate to your user access privileges.

  6. Whenever you are not using VPN, disconnect by toggling the switch off

You get five attempts to connect before being locked out for 6 minutes.
