Chime Live & Chime Go in the Cloud

Chime Live & Chime Go sites are all hosted in the cloud using the Amazon Web Services Platform. Sites move from server to server depending on the lifecycle of the project.

Chime Server Types

There are three types of servers:

  • Dev (Concise Only) - can only be accessed via a VPN (Virtual Private Network), no client access
  • Pre & Post - the starting point for Encore dev builds - live on the public internet - users can't log in unless their login is enabled in the CMS
  • Show - for live show days - automatically scale up to the required power to run the show

A more detailed diagram is below to show the robustness of the system and you can find a full explanation here.

Chime Site Lifecycle

A Chime site has a lifecycle, much of which is automated.

  • Site Manager 4 - used to create or clone a site
  • Pre-Post Server - pre-event hosting
  • Show Servers - automatically moved across the morning of the show (01:00-05:00 in your region) to enough servers for the smooth operation of the site.
  • Pre-Post Server - post-event hosting, often up to a year
  • Archive Folder - archived, site no longer live

Concise has one extra step with the addition of a development (dev) server with no public access (VPN access). Concise sites are often heavily customized and are not put onto the public internet during the build phase.
