Preparing your import
The best way to prepare your import data is to export the existing data to use as a template and then fill in your own data.
- Headings in red indicate that the column is mandatory, there must be data in the field, or the import will fail.
- Hover over the red triangle in the top right corner of a column to view information about that column.
The data in this import is the same as you would find when manually adding a stream.
- Unique Id: Choose a unique Id (Unique Ids are unique to the module e.g. Live Streams)
- Start Time: Scheduled start time of the stream. This will be displayed in the exported data. It can be adjusted on the fly during the stream or afterward. This start time doesn't restrict when you can stream, it is used for the export data and the pre-stream countdown timer.
- End Time: Scheduled start time of the stream. This will be displayed in the exported data. It can be adjusted on the fly during the stream or afterward. This start time doesn't restrict when you can stream, it is used for the export data.
- Show in stream list: put a "y" in this column to have this stream appear in the streams list in the front end of the app. Image
- User Groups: Comma separate user groups to control who can see the stream
- Agenda2 UniqueIds: comma separate the Agenda2 UniqueIds you want to assign the stream to. If an agenda timeslot is associated with a live stream, a live stream button will automatically appear in the agenda. Multiple agenda timeslots can point at a single stream. Image
This is useful in large events where a user may attend on day 2 and go straight to the agenda item they are interested in. The live stream button will be easy to find.
- Chat Stream: Enter the unique ID of the chat stream to associate it with a live stream (separate to the app config). This choice only affects the export data, when you do the chat stream export, it tells you which live stream it was associated with.
- Interprefy URL: Enter the Interprefy URL. You will not normally use Interprefy when you have a stream for each language.
- Live: Enter "y" to set the stream to be live
The default language for the app (in this case, en = English) will appear in red and is a mandatory field
- Name - en: Enter the name of the stream e.g. General Session
-
URL - en: Enter a Stream URL, hosted video URL or "IVS"
- Stream URL: if you are using an external streaming service, enter the URL.
- Hosted Video URL: this would is a pre-recorded video on demand, not a live stream.
- IVS: If you enter IVS in the field, Chime will automatically create a stream after import.
In this example, the Chime app has two languages, en = English and de = German (Deutsch). If you want to provide a separate stream for users who have chosen the German language option in the app, enter a name and URL. A second language stream would not normally be used with Interprefy.
- Name - de: Enter the name of the stream e.g. "Hauptveranstaltung" ("General Session")
-
URL - de
- Stream URL: if you are using an external streaming service, enter the URL.
- Hosted Video URL: this would be a pre-recorded video on demand, not a live stream.
- IVS: If you enter IVS in the field, Chime will automatically create a stream after import.
As with languages in all Chime modules, the non-default language fields are optional. If you leave them blank, you will just see the content that has been set up on the default language, in this case, English (en).
Import Data
Click the [Import] button to import live stream data.
Check or uncheck the [Delete Existing] checkbox FIRST because as soon as you choose the file, the import will start.
- Delete Existing - unchecked: your import data will be merged with the existing data in that app. New data will be imported, existing data will be updated.
- Delete Existing - checked: all existing streams will be deleted
Be careful before you import with [Delete Existing] checked, you can't recover deleted streams and associated data.
