This article shows the default options for Encore Zoom account settings (for property managed events) and provides tips and explanations for the Encore use of various features.
For a full explanation of the features, visit Zoom Help: Changing Account Settings.
In this article:
Can't change settings: In general, you cannot change settings after a meeting or webinar has started. It is possible but you would have to stop the webinar, remove all the people, make the changes and have everyone log in again. This is very confusing for the users and should be avoided. It is the equivalent of making all the attendees leave the ballroom while you make some changes to the stage, then getting them to all come back in again.
Note that these settings are for the accounts provided by Encore for property managed events. The settings on these accounts are preset to a default status by the Encore team. Some of the settings are locked and you will not be able to change them.
You can tell if a setting has been modified as a [reset] button will appear. You can click this button to reset the setting to the account default.

Meeting Types & Security
There are two general uses of Zoom for Encore events and they have slightly different default security requirements. The objective of the default settings is to make events as secure as possible but still smooth to run.
Zoom as a Tool
The technician is using Zoom as a tool to bring faces into a physical room for an in-person event.
In this case, the customer will not see what we are doing with Zoom and the form is to make them aware of the security precautions we are taking.
Zoom as a Platform
Zoom is being used as the platform for the event be it a meeting or webinar. The Zoom requirements will vary more depending on the customer's requirements. The customer will likely have someone involved in the meeting with host or co-host privileges and be able to see the settings currently applied in the meeting.
Some security settings will need to be different to make operating the event easier for example:
- Allow people to unmute themselves.
- Allow people to start their own video.
- Allow people to rename themselves.
- ...and several others.
Security
Require that all meetings are secured with one security option
Waiting Room (Meeting Only)
The waiting room is one of Encore's default security features. The technician or customer can check who is in the waiting room before letting them into the meeting. This is not foolproof, someone may have just set their name to be the same as someone else. It is one of several security measures and part of an overall secure approach to meetings.
The Waiting Room feature allows the host to control when a participant joins the meeting. As the meeting host, you can admit attendees one by one, or hold all attendees in the Waiting Room and admit them all at once. You can send all participants to the Waiting Room when joining your meeting, or you can allow participants from your Zoom account and participants with specified domains to bypass the Waiting Room. As the host, you can also choose to automatically move participants to the Waiting Room while a meeting is in progress if you lose connection from the meeting.

Only authenticated meeting participants and webinar attendees can join meetings and webinars Not normally used
Authentication is not generally used as it can cause confusion for the attendees. They have to log in using a registered Zoom account. Issues occur when attendees try and join the meeting without having access (or being able to remember) to their Zoom login details.
